Bailey Hunter: Publisher

A dreamer of the highest calibre, Bailey is a proud Canadian (so don’t tell her that ‘e’ comes before ‘r’ in words like calibre or theatre, or that cheque is misspelled) who has more irons in the fire than she has time to count.

The many facets of writing have always been a integral aspect to her life. She has always seen Dark Recesses Press as an idea born from a necessity to connect talented aspiring authors with quality starved horror/dark fiction enthusiasts.

She was a founding member of +The Horror Library+ and has either been in or worked on every anthology produced by them.  In the off hours between full-time work, Mama Bear duties and publishing, Bailey also does book inset and cover lay-up design.

Bailey is also a social networking  junkie and extreme coffee addict. She does not apologise for this.

She would tell you more but her basement is getting full and the stench is starting to attract attention.

Boyd_Harris

Boyd E. Harris: Submissions Manager

Boyd E. Harris peddles ice cream by day and horror by night.   He is the president of KaleidoScoops Inc., a retail ice cream chain with outlets in 20 states.  When people ask, he explains that he doesn’t carry product around with him, because he hasn’t figured a way to keep it from melting.

After the sun goes down, Boyd is the Submissions Manager  for Dark Recesses.  He also participates as a copy editor and a staff writer for both Dark Recesses online magazine and the downloadable PDF.

Boyd is also the publisher of Cutting Block Press a small press publishing company that specializes in horror fiction anthologies.  His book, +Horror Library+ Volume 3, was nominated for a 2009 Bram Stoker Award for best anthology.  His company just released Butcher Shop Quartet II, an anthology he calls “Epic, Supernatural Horror”.  He hopes to release +Horror Library+ Volume 4 in the first half of 2010.

Boyd is also on the development committee for the World Horror Convention 2011, which is to take place in Austin, Texas … Boyd’s home.

Michelle Garren Flye: Senior Galley Editor.

Michelle Garren Flye is a mother, writer and editor based in coastal North Carolina. She obtained her degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992. Not liking the hours required of a journalist, she went on to obtain a Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1997. When her first child was born in 2000, she packed her diplomas away and began a new life as a stay-at-home mom, which fortunately afforded her the opportunity to pursue her writing on a semi-regular basis.

Michelle has served in various capacities for several on-line and print literary endeavors, including edifice WRECKED, Horror Library Volume 1, Horror Library Volume 3, Butcher Shop Quartet, Butcher Shop Quartet II and Tattered Souls.

Michelle’s work can be found online and in print, including a few she’s really proud of in Opium, Smokelong Quarterly, Flashquake, the print anthology Our Shadows Speak and her only zombie story which recently appeared in Sonar4 Publications’ Tooth Decay. Her novel Secrets of the Lotus is forthcoming from Lyrical Press. For more information, visit her blogging efforts at http://michellegflye.wordpress.com/.

Connor Sanders, Lisa Brandel, David Hayes, Kara Mcelhinney, J.E. Taylor, Julie Andrijeski,  Sean Grigsby, and Paula Phillips: Dark Recesses Reading Team.

These folks are our front line.  The group has nearly two decades worth of combined experience as writers, editors and reviewers.  They willingly read themselves to bloody eyeballs and that twitch that only the occasional murder can quell.  I suggest you send Dark Recesses only your best work (they do have your contact information, after all).
